KNOWING DARKNESS, a sumptuous volume of artwork inspired by the writing of Stephen King. This 448-page art book is absolutely chock-full of color and black & white paintings and drawings that have directly or indirectly illustrated Stephen's writings, all of them culled from the last thirty-five years including most of the trade hardcover and mass market paperback editions, and virtually all of the artwork featured in the numerous limited editions.
In preparing the book artwork-wise, the Centipede team worked from either originals or first-generation transparencies, so the work is displayed with a brilliance that has never been seen before. And hoo boy, we can vouch for that . . . in spades! Plus, there are many pages of fold-out views, including several by Michael Whelan, Ned Dameron, J.K.Potter, John Jude Pelancar, Stephen Gervais, and others. Meanwhile, text-wise, the book -- which comes slipcased, with ribbon marker, head and tail bands, printed front and rear panels, and three-piece cloth construction -- features an introduction by Frank Darabont and text (written by King critic George Beahm) that looks back at 34 years of King in print providing a detailed look at the writer and his life, and supplemented with interviews with Michael Whelan, Bernie Wrightson, Drew Struzan, John Cayea, Dave Christiansen, and many others.
